Origin

Ferroga was founded in 2011, when a passion for wine, passed down through generations of the family, found its home in Valle de Uco. A vineyard was planted there, marking the start of a path of learning, observing the soil, studying the seasons, and discovering how each vintage expressed itself through the grapes.

In its early years, the wine had a short journey: it went straight from the vineyard to the family table, where it was shared with friends. Over time, that circle grew to include others who tasted the wines and became curious about their origins. Interest in Ferroga continued to grow, while the winery remained deeply connected to the place where it all began.

Altitude as Identity

At 1,100 meters above sea level, the Ferroga Vineyard experiences the intense sun of Los Chacayes and the cold temperatures that set in at night. This variation shapes the ripening process, allowing the grapes to develop an expressive character while retaining their freshness.

The soil also plays an essential role. Stones, limestone, marlstone, and clay contribute to the soil composition and help us tell a story through each wine. In this distinctive setting, the grapes are grown for wines crafted exclusively from our own vineyard. From hand-harvesting to the careful selection of individual grapes, every decision at the winery is guided by a commitment to preserving the work that begins in the vineyard.

Labels

In the beginning, Ferroga produced small batches of wine, always respecting the distinctive scale of each harvest. Some vintages remain in our library, where we monitor their evolution over time and deepen our understanding of how they develop.

Each vintage is unique, and every bottle is individually numbered to indicate its specific place and the limited production of that vintage. This practice preserves essential information while highlighting that the wine belongs to a specific harvest, representing a particular moment in time.

Winemaking

Winemaker Santiago Achával has been involved with FERROGA since its early years. His expertise helps interpret the vineyard and guide decisions throughout the winemaking process, with particular attention to ripening times and the specific character of the fruit.

The label of the 2023 blend has his signature, recognizing a collaborative effort and reflecting the conviction that drives the project: each wine should express the character of Los Chacayes in the glass.

Crafted to evolve over time

Ferroga wines are crafted to evolve in the bottle. Over time, new aromas emerge, while texture and structure find a different balance.

It does not mean waiting for a special occasion in the distant future. Opening a bottle today offers a chance to experience the current expression of that vintage, while setting it aside is an invitation to discover what time has to reveal.
